BITS-Pilani Admission Process for BE/BTech
Admissions to BITS-Pilani BE/BTech courses will happen on the basis of BITSAT admission test. Students appearing for class 12th or equivalent exam in 2023 or who have passed 12th exam in 2022 can apply for BITS-Pilani entrance exam i.e. BITSAT 2023.
BITSAT 2023 Exam Date
BITSAT 2023 examination is likely to be conducted in the month of May-June by BITS-Pilani in computer-based mode. BITSAT will be conducted twice in 2023 - BITSAT Session 1 and Session 2, which are separated by a gap of a few weeks.

Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT 2023
For admission to any of the First Degree programmes of BITS except B.Pharm.(Hons.): Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.
For admission to B.Pharm.(Hons.): Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English. However candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program.
Class 12 Marks for BITSAT: The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.
Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2023 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2022 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2023 test.
Direct Admission to Class 12 Board Toppers: First rank students of all the central and state boards in India will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
Total Number of Seats in BITS
There are around 2000 seats available through the BITSAT exam at various BITS campuses - BITS Pilani, BITS Hyderabad and BITS Goa. Admissions in BITS are offered in all top engineering branches like Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Communication, etc.
BITSAT 2023 Registration and Online Application Form
Candidates need to fill the online application form at BITSAT website after reading all the instructions and eligibility criteria.
The important points about BITSAT registration and application form:
- Candidates have to apply online through the BITSAT website.
- Only one application must be submitted by a single applicant. More than one application will get rejected.
- Before starting your online application keep ready scanned images of Photograph and Signature in the format of jpg/jpeg only. The size of the photo image must be between 50 kb to 100 Kb. The size of the signature image must be between 10 kb to 50 kb.
- Candidates can apply for BITSAT 2023 both the sessions together or separately but it's mandatory to apply for BITSAT 1st session.
- A candidate who has not applied for BITSAT 2023 Session 1 by the last date, will not be allowed to apply only for Session-2 of BITSAT later on.
- Candidates should register through a valid email-id and phone number.
- The BITSAT application process will contain various steps like Registration, Filling up of Application form, Image uploading, Online Fee payment and Printing of Application form.
- After completion of the application process, candidates are advised to print the application form and fee payment proof for any further use in future. (Before printing out the filled-in application form, the system will generate a unique application number for you. Note down this number as it will be required for all future correspondences.)
- Candidates can edit the BITSAT application form during the correction facility.
BITSAT 2023 Application Fee
For exam centres in India : A candidate who chooses to appear twice for BITSAT will have to pay a sum of Rs. 5400 (for a male candidate) and Rs. 4400 (for a female candidate). A candidate who originally opts to appear once (Session 1), will pay a fee of Rs. 3400 (for a male candidate) and Rs. 2900 (for a female candidate). If such a candidate chooses then to apply to appear a second time (Session 2), then he/she will have to pay an additional sum of Rs. 2000 (for a male candidate) and Rs. 1500 (for a female candidate).
For exam centre in Dubai : For session 1 only, the application fee for both male and female candidates will be Rs. 7000 (in INR). However, if the candidate wants to appear for both sessions then the prescribed fee will be Rs.9000 (in INR) for both male and female candidates.
BITSAT Exam Pattern 2023
BITSAT 2023 exam will be held in computer-based online mode only. Along with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, there will be questions from English and Logical Reasoning also. The total duration of the BITSAT Online Test is 3 hours.
Physics: Total 30 Questions of 3 marks each.
Chemistry: Total 30 Questions of 3 marks each.
Mathematics: Total 40 Questions of 3 marks each.
English: Total 10 Questions of 3 marks each.
Logical Reasoning: Total 20 Questions of 3 marks each.
Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted for incorrect answer.
After finishing all 130 questions, A candidate can opt for 12 Extra questions.

Please note that BITS never officially releases previous years question papers. BITSAT exam is conducted in online mode for some specific number of days and the different sets of questions are randomly asked in the paper each day. Any publisher or online website which claims they have past years questions papers of BITSAT are just mock tests based on students' memory.

Does BITSAT have 2 attempts?
Yes, from 2022, BITSAT has 2 attempts in a year like JEE Main. There is around a one month gap between BITSAT first and second attempt.
How many times can we give the BITSAT exam?
A candidate can give the BITSAT exam twice in a year - BITSAT Session-1 and Session-2. Candidates appearing for class 12 in 2023 or passed class 12 in 2022 are eligible to give BITSAT 2023.
Does BITS accept JEE score?
No, BITS-Pilani doesn’t consider the JEE score for admission in engineering courses at its campuses.
Can droppers give BITSAT after 12?
Yes, one year droppers after class 12 are eligible to give the BITSAT entrance exam.
