JEE Main 2019 Exam pattern, New Changes, Past Year Papers

As per the HRD ministry, the issue of single entrance exam for engineering is still pending and a committee will submit its recommendations. Depending on the recommendation of the committee further decision will be taken for JEE 2019. The common engineering entrance test can be conducted twice a year. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency may conduct the JEE Main exam from 2019 onwards.

What are the new changes in JEE Main 2019? As of now, it's the same as JEE Main 2018.

  • Weightage to School Boards marks in class 12th or equivalent examination will not be considered for JEE Main 2019.
  • The eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2019 (Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs) will be the same like JEE Advanced i.e. 75% marks or be in top 20 percentile in class 12th or equivalent examination. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

JEE Main 2019 Exam pattern [Without New Changes]

The Paper-1 (B.E./B. Tech.) of JEE Main 2019 will be conducted in two separate modes i.e. Offline (Pen and Paper Based Examination) mode and Online (Computer Based Examination) mode. The Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.) of JEE (Main) will be conducted only in Pen and Paper based examination mode. A candidate will opt for either Pen and Paper Based or Computer Based examination modes for Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) only.

  • The duration of exam (both Paper-1 and Paper-2) will be 3 hours.
  • Paper-1 would contain 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Paper-2 would contain Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing test.
  • There will be total 90 questions in Paper-1 with 30 questions from each section. Total marks will be 360.
  • Every correct answer gives you 4 marks while one 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The Board will use different sets of question papers on the different shifts on different dates of examination. In every question paper set, each subject carries the same percentage of easy, medium and difficult questions. This ensures the same difficulty level of each set of question paper.

JEE Main 2019 Online Application Form

The aspiring candidates have to apply online through JEE Main website. The online application for JEE Main 2019 can be filled from December, 2018.

JEE Main 2019 AADHAAR Card Requirement

Applicants who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for JEE Main 2019 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof. Applicants not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrolment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.

The candidates who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 14 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online application form for JEE Main 2019.

The Aadhaar Card is not required for students of states – J&K, Assam & Meghalaya. They need to enter any other valid Govt. identity number (like ration card number, bank account number, etc.) provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.

NRI students can apply for JEE Main 2019 using their Passport details. No Aadhaar Card required for NRI aspirants.

JEE Main 2019 Exam centres

JEE (Main) - 2019 will be conducted in major cities and towns of India as well as abroad. While applying, candidates must select four centre cities in case of Pen & Paper based examination and one city in case of Computer based examination.

If the number of candidates for Computer based examination is less than 50 in a city on a particular date then such candidates will be allotted last day of the computer based examination in the same city.
