Foreign students (including OCI and PIO) who want to study in prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs) in India are allowed to directly appear in the JEE Advanced test skipping the JEE Main that Indian students have to take. The Ministry of Education also decided to increase the number of seats in IITs for foreign students. To facilitate these foreign students, MEA may give them a research visa for the duration of the programme rather than one year at a time.
