How Difficult is to Get Admission in IISc and IISER?

IISc is the top institute of the country. It admit students who are top rankers in some of the prestigious entrance examinations like KVPY, JEE and NEET. So getting into IISc is as difficult as getting top ranks in these exams.

IISERs consider KVPY and JEE score, but not NEET. It also admit students on the basis of its own aptitude test for science stream students who pass class 12 with marks equal or above the cut off percentage. If your concepts are strong, then it will be easy for you to clear IISER aptitude test.

IISc Admission Process 2019-20 [Latest news on top]

7th June 2019 : A counselling session based on the JEE Main ranks will be held on July 2, 2019 at 9 am at the IISc campus. The cut off All India Rank (CRL) based on the final NTA score for shortlisted candidates in different categories in the JEE Main stream are (in the General Merit list) : 220(General); 5000(OBC-NCL); 8000(SC); 50000(ST), 7000(KM), 2000 (EWS) and 1000(PWD). Candidates should produce copy of the JEE Main results.

8th May 2019 : Offers were made to general category applicants selected with ranks of up to 220, 2 and 220 for the KVPY-SA, SB and SX streams respectively. Offers were made to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category applicants selected with ranks of 960 for KVPY-SA, 960 for KVPY-SX.

IISc takes admission on the basis of KVPY, JEE Main, JEE Advanced and NEET-UG exams. To apply for admission to the Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme in the 2019-20 session, eligible candidates should fill the Application Form (available only online). The online application must be submitted on or before 30 April 2020.

IISER Admission Process 2019-20

To promote high-quality science education, research, and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati.

IISER takes admission on the basis of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (JEE). Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship will be eligible to apply for admissions. Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2019 will be eligible to apply.

You can also take admission in IISER through SCB Channel (Percentage in State and Central Boards). Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2018 or 2019 with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards are eligible to apply.

Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centres across the country.
