How Difficult is to Get Admission in IISc, IISER?

So getting admission in IISc is as difficult as getting top ranks in JEE Main, Advanced, NEET-UG and IAT. IISER selects students on the basis of its own entrance exam – IISER Aptitude Test. IISc UG Admission Process for BSc Course

IISc Bangalore takes admission in Bachelor of Science (Research) course on the basis of JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET-UG and IISER Aptitude Test. To apply for admission in IISc UG programs, eligible candidates should fill the online application form on IISc website. IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) is introduced as a new mode of entry to get admission in IISc BSc program from the academic year 2023-24. Candidates who wish to apply for IISc through IISER Aptitude Test must apply separately at both the IISc admission portal and IISER admissions portal.

IISc Eligibility Criteria for BSc Program

The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam along with any other subjects. The candidates must have secured a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the class 12/ qualifying examination. Students who will appear for the 12th standard board examination (or equivalent) and 1 year droppers are eligible to apply for admission to IISc BSc Programme.

IISc BSc Cutoff – JEE Main, Advanced, IAT, NEET

In 2024, the IISc cut-off rank (General) for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IAT and NEET-UG are :

  • JEE Main Cutoff for IISc : 903
  • JEE Advanced Cutoff for IISc : 1095
  • IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) for IISc : 38

IISc UG Admission for BTech Course (Mathematics and Computing)

Admission to IISc UG BTech program is based on the JEE Advanced merit list. Applicants must have cleared/ appearing in class XII or equivalent from a recognized board with the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and a 5th subject.

Total Seats in IISc BTech Program : 52 [40 + 8 (20% supernumerary seat for female) + 4 (10% Foreign nationals/OCI)].
