NEET 7 Month Study Plan

As NEET is one of the most competitive entrance exams in India, starting your preparation in October gives you 7 months to thoroughly cover the syllabus and prepare effectively. The below study plan will help you make the best use of your time to ensure you’re fully ready by the time the exam arrives in May.

7-Month Study Plan for NEET Preparation

This 7-month NEET study plan is designed to help you manage your time effectively and maximize preparation before the NEET exam. The plan focuses on understanding key concepts, practicing MCQs, balancing board exams, and engaging in thorough revision.

October to December: Strengthen Concepts and Start Practice

Objective: Focus on understanding key theoretical concepts and gradually incorporate practice through MCQs.

Study Routine:

  • Daily Study Hours: 6-7 hours
  • What to Do:
    • Read NCERT textbooks thoroughly for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as they form the backbone of the NEET syllabus.
    • Begin with topics from Class 12 and make it a habit to revise Class 11 chapters.
    • After covering each topic, immediately practice related MCQs from NEET preparation books or study material. This will solidify your understanding and improve application skills.
    • Start solving previous years’ NEET papers to get familiar with the exam pattern and types of questions.

December to January-End: Boost Problem-Solving and Focus on Weak Areas

Objective: Shift focus to rigorous problem-solving and mastering time management.

Study Routine:

  • Daily Study Hours: 8-9 hours
  • What to Do:
    • Increase the time spent on solving questions, particularly from challenging chapters in Physics and Chemistry. Focus more on numericals, reactions, and conceptual questions.
    • Take chapter-wise mock tests regularly to evaluate your preparation. Analyze your mistakes and revise accordingly.
    • Work on improving accuracy and speed, especially in Physics numericals and lengthy Chemistry problems.
    • Consider practicing full-length mock tests on weekends to prepare yourself for handling the real exam.

January-End to Mid-March: Managing Board Exams Alongside NEET

Objective: Balance your preparation for board exams while keeping NEET in focus.

Study Routine:

  • Board Exam Focus:
    • Daily Study Hours: 6-8 hours, with 60-70% devoted to board exam preparation.
    • Concentrate on NCERT and practice subjective questions for board exams.
    • Solve sample papers for your board exams to enhance writing speed and answer formulation.
  • NEET Focus:
    • Dedicate 30-40% of your time to NEET preparation by solving objective questions and taking short mock tests.
    • Keep revisiting your weak topics to avoid losing touch with NEET-specific preparation.

Mid-March to April-End: Final Stretch of Revision and Mock Tests

Objective: Engage in intense revision and refine test-taking strategies.

Study Routine:

  • Daily Study Hours: 8-10 hours
  • What to Do:
    • Take full-length mock tests twice a week to practice time management and gain familiarity with the NEET exam format.
    • Engage in focused revision of NCERT textbooks, particularly in Biology (often the most scoring subject).
    • Review your notes, important formulas, reactions, and diagrams.
    • Avoid starting new topics at this stage; instead, strengthen what you’ve already learned to maximize confidence and clarity.

The above study plan ensures that you not only cover the syllabus but also focus on regular practice, time management, and balancing NEET preparation with board exams. The key is consistency and self-assessment throughout these seven months, which will keep you well-prepared for NEET in May.
