What's new in JEE Main 2017?

  • All the Indian citizen candidates (except students of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya) should possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI.
  • Weightage to School Boards marks in class 12th or equivalent examination will not be considered for JEE Main 2017.
  • The eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2017 will be the same like JEE Advanced i.e. 75% marks or be in top 20 percentile in class 12th or equivalent examination. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
  • The States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha & some other institutions have joined JEE Main system. The candidates in these states are advised to fill the JEE Main 2017 application form.

JEE Main 2017 Application Form Correction

The facility for correction in JEE Main Application form will be operational on JEE Main website from 25/01/2017 to 03/02/2017.

This is the last opportunity to make changes in JEE Main 2017 Application Form. All the registered candidates should verify their particulars. If any information is filled wrong/incomplete/flawed, please make correction.

The change of mode from computer based (online) examination to pen & paper based (offline) examination is not allowed.

JEE Main 2017 Online Application Form

The aspiring candidates have to apply online through JEE Main website. The online application for JEE Main 2017 can be filled from 1st December, 2016 to 2nd January, 2017. The fee can be paid upto 3rd January, 2017.

Notice (31 December 2016) : The date of online submission of application form of JEE Main 2017 has been extended up to 16 January, 2017 (11.59 PM). The fee may be paid by the candidates up to 17 January, 2017 (11.59 PM).

JEE Main 2017 Exam Date: JEE Main 2017 Offline Exam (Paper 1 and Paper 2) on April 2, 2017. JEE Main 2017 Online Exam on 8th and 9th April 2017.

JEE Main 2017 AADHAAR Card Requirement

At the time of filling application form of JEE (Main)–2017, the candidates will have to enter their AADHAAR number, name, date of birth & gender which will be validated with the UIDAI’s data. In case, these particulars do not match, the candidates will not be able to fill the application form for JEE (Main)–2017. Therefore, the candidates are advised to ensure that their AADHAAR card has correct details of their name, date of birth & gender as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in AADHAAR data or school records, as the case may be.

The Aadhaar Card is not required for students of states – J&K, Assam & Meghalaya. They need to enter any other valid Govt. identity number (like ration card number, bank account number, etc.) provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.

In order to facilitiate applicants who are not having Aadhaar, the CBSE has specially set up facilitation centres in each city of examination for the purpose of Aadhaar enrolment. The applicants who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2017.

In case Aadhaar enrolment facility is not available at the facilitation centres, the applicants should submit a request for Aadhaar enrolment. The facilitation centre will issue a registration number to such applicants. This registration number should be entered by the applicants at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2017.

NRI students can apply for JEE Main 2017 using their Passport details. No Aadhaar Card required for NRI aspirants. Notice for NRI Students

Update 23 December, 2016 : CBSE has issued clarification regarding Aadhaar Card. Students who have recently submitted the request for updation in Aadhaar details (including biometric updation) have to apply for JEE Main 2017 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.

JEE Main 2017 Exam pattern

The Paper-1 (B.E./B. Tech.) of JEE Main 2017 will be conducted in two separate modes i.e. Offline (Pen and Paper Based Examination) mode and Online (Computer Based Examination) mode. The Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.) of JEE (Main) will be conducted only in Pen and Paper based examination mode. A candidate will opt for either Pen and Paper Based or Computer Based examination modes for Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) only.

  • The duration of exam (both Paper-1 and Paper-2) will be 3 hours.
  • Paper-1 would contain 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Paper-2 would contain Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing test.
  • There will be total 90 questions in Paper-1 with 30 questions from each section. Total marks will be 360.
  • Every correct answer gives you 4 marks while one 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

JEE Main 2017 Exam centres

JEE (Main) - 2017 will be conducted in major cities and towns of India as well as abroad. While applying, candidates must select four centre cities in case of Pen & Paper based examination and one city in case of Computer based examination.

If the number of candidates for Computer based examination is less than 50 in a city on a particular date then such candidates will be allotted last day of the computer based examination in the same city.
