weekly exams questions 2015-10-25

Hello everybody,

It’s Sunday 🙂 and time for our Weekly Exams Questions with Solution.

Every week from Monday to Thursday, we post questions (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) on our social media learning platforms for the preparation of several examinations like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT, AIPMT, AIIMS, State PMT, KVPY, NTSE, Olympiads.

For those who are not connected with Mystudycart on Social media: In-case you want real time experience of answering questions and clearing doubts, then be a part of our social media learning pages on Facebook or Google+.

(Update : From 2016, we are no longer posting regular questions on social platforms.)

Questions and answers from this week,

b) Osteoporosis – decrease in bone mass and higher chance of fractures with advancing age.
c) Myasthenia gravis – Auto immune disorder which inhibits sliding of myosin filaments.
d) Gout – inflammation of joints due to extra deposition of calcium.

Answer: b) Osteoporosis – decrease in bone mass and higher chance of fractures with advancing age.

Osteoporosis is decrease in bone mass and a common cause of fracture in old people.

Q 2. The bacteria Pseudomonas is useful because of its ability to:    [For AIIMS Preparation]

a) transfer genes from one plant to another
b) decompose a variety of organic compounds
c) fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil
d) produce a wide variety of antibiotics

Answer: b) decompose a variety of organic compounds

Chemistry Questions (Posted on October 20, 2015)

Q 1. Two metals which will displace hydrogen and two metals which will not displace hydrogen from dilute acids, respectively are:          [For NTSE Chemistry]

a) potassium, calcium, aluminium and zinc
b) Sodium, calcium, zinc and iron
c) zinc, iron, copper and mercury
d) Copper, mercury, silver and gold

Answer: c) zinc, iron, copper and mercury

Zinc and Iron will displace hydrogen from dilute acids because they are more reactive than hydrogen. Copper and Mercury are below hydrogen in the activity series so they will not displace hydrogen from dilute acids.

Q 2. Food cans are coated with tin and not with zinc because:     [For NTSE SAT Preparation]

a) zinc is costlier than tin
b) zinc has a higher melting point than tin
c) zinc is more reactive than tin
d) zinc is less reactive than tin

Answer: c) zinc is more reactive than tin

Zinc is more reactive and can react with food items to make it unfit for health. Tin is used to prevent corrosion.

Physics Questions (Posted on October 21, 2015)

Q 2. According to Fleming’s Left Hand Rule, the ___________ points in the direction of the magnetic field.    [For NTSE SAT Preparation]

a) thumb
b) forefinger
c) second finger
d) middle finger

Answer: b) forefinger

Mathematics Questions (Posted on October 22, 2015)

Q 1. If the Angle of elevation of sun increases from 0° to 90° then the change in the length of shadow of Tower will be :     [NTSE Mathematics]

a) No change in length of shadow
b) Length of shadow increase
c) Length of shadow decreases
d) Length of shadow will be zero

Answer: c) Length of shadow decreases

Q 2. Which of the following statements is not true ?    [NTSE Stage1 Mathematics]

a) There is only one tangent at a point of the circle
b) The lengths of tangents drawn from the an external point to circle are equal
c) There can be many tangents to a circle through a point lying outside the circle
d) No tangent can be drawn to the circle from a point inside the circle

Answer: c) There can be many tangents to a circle through a point lying outside the circle

There can be only two tangents to a circle through a point outside the circle.

So, that’s it from this week.

I will see you next Sunday with a new set of questions.

Thanks so much. Take care.
